How can I get my HP fax/printer to work without ink cartridges?

I can%26#039;t buy any cartridges right now and I need to use the fax on the machine but it keeps saying %26#039;insert cartridges%26#039; how can I get the fax working without that? I just need to send a fax!|||It won%26#039;t that is the drawback of a multi function machine
