Ink cartridge in HP Color Laser 3600DN just exploded. Any suggestions for cleaning?

I have magenta powder ink all over the inside of the printer. I could really use some advice from someone that has had this problem on how to clean ink off the film.|||Lots of paper towels, soak up all you can, alcohol is ok, don%26#039;t use any oil based cleaners like paint thinner.varsol or turpentine.

Get as much as you can, Q-tips and other cotton products like balls, just make sure you can get to all the areas the ink is in, the dried ink can cause the belts and pulleys to fail, and then you looking at a replacement, but with Canon and Lexmark selling printer for $35-40 it is something to keep it mind, if the unit is heating the ink cartridge to the point it explodes, there amy be a bigger problem on the horizon.|||http://www.webopages.com/plush/ink.html

or can you have a color and black in.. maybe smaller cartridges...?|||I have a Cannon BJC 70.

If it is the same sort of thing, you have a black cartridge for all your letters, and when you need to print in colour, you have to put in it a completely diferent print head with four ink things in it.

The three colours and black.

I really keep it for letters as it is a tiny little printer with a huge black ink reservoir.

The four cartridges in the colour head are each one quarter the size of the black cartridge in the black ink head|||for ink refills, i would try myinks.com

Yes, the .17 Remington is a centerfire cartridge.|||The 17 rem is a centerfire based on a necked down .223 rem which also has the shoulder moved back. Where can I recycle remanufactured computer printer ink jet cartridges?

I have two empty remanufactured printer ink jet cartridges, compatible with a Dell printer. I have been investigating the Internet programs that purchase empty toner cartridges, but all I have come across thus far purchase virgin - and not remanufactured - cartridges.

I would sincerely appreciate it if someone could refer me to a program that takes remanufactured cartridges, whether they buy them or take them for free. I am more inclined to reduce landfill waste than make a buck.

Thanks!|||I don%26#039;t use remanufactured cartridges or toners but I do take all my empty toners and cartridges to STAPLES Customer Service and in turn Staples gives one a $3 off coupon for each empty. FYI I have seen others bring remanufactured cartridges there as well...

Are ink cartridges for printers the biggest consumer ripoff there is?

The prices are absolutely ridiculous.|||Hmmm. You were hoping for an %26quot;eternal%26quot; ink cartridge that never needs to be replaced? Or just hoping prices for the cartridges were lower?

Different makers charge different prices. My Canon cartridges are about $11 each, and there are 4 (cyan, magenta, yellow, black). Each ink is used at a different rate, so you only have to replace the single color that runs out. Much cheaper than the tri-color mega-cartridge.

Just as long as it is air tight, you are safe and you can re-use.|||Ziplock (tm) bags is your answer. :)|||Some printer models have means of cleaning the printheads. When we do not use them for extended periods, you could remove them from your printer and place tape over the print heads to stop the bleeding of the ink, as them manufacturer does when he ships it to you. Your cold also use a handy Zip lock bag, to stop any air from reaching the print head. Otherwise air will dry up your cartridges very fast.|||2 good answers and here%26#039;s another one. If you remove the carts the nozzles will dry up and clog in the printer. So if you save the carts from drying you cannot stop the nozzles from clogging. If you have been printing things like photographs which use much more ink than the ink level is calibrated for, then you cartridge may be empty.

If you don%26#039;t use your printer often, IE withing the last couple weeks, there is a good chance the print head on your cartridge has dried out. currently using eley 2.5 inch carts, finding them effective, but past about 20 yards the pattern is very loose and having difficulty with crows/rooks at this range. im no expert on shooting, so does anyone know what would be best for making it as long range as possible? perhaps 3 inch carts or something?

thanks a lot in advance!|||First of all ,, all well and good saying switch to a 3%26quot; load which is the answer but onley if the gun is proofed to take a 3%26quot; load.

The combernation you want for maximum distance is a heavy load trough the tightest of choke you have, since its a hushpower the choke is fixed.|||I gotta agree with Shogun, the .410 doesn%26#039;t have a whole lot of pellets, so switching to a 3 inch will give you some more pellets. This means there will be less holes in your pattern out past 20 yards. If your shotgun has a full choke tube, I%26#039;d use that, as that will tighten your pattern up meaning less holes in the pattern for those crows to fly through.|||I solved that problem by switching to Remington 3 inch Game Loads. I use #5 shot which is listed as having a velocity of 1135 fps. Of course I use a full choke for longer ranges. I have killed crow at 30 yards with this load, while they were sitting in a tree eating my pecans.

Which Lexmark Ink Cartridge will fit in my Dell Photo 924 Printer?

Black is either 32 or 34 and colour is either 33 or 35. HP and Lexmark cartridges include the print head, which makes them expensive. However, this means that, as they contain %26quot;technology%26quot; and aren%26#039;t just containers, they can be patented. This means that no other company can make %26quot;clones%26quot; and that every remanufactured (refilled) cartridge must have been made by Lexmark. Even %26quot;new%26quot; ones may have been remanufactured (refilled) by Lexmark. Get them refilled at Cartridge World or get a refill kit and do it yourself. What are the best Leapster games/cartridges to get?

My son is 4 1/2 and I%26#039;m getting him the L-Max Leapster for Christmas. I want to get an assortment of games but don%26#039;t want them to be duplicative in what they teach. Can somebody who has a good lot of them tell me the best four games I could get that would teach a little bit of everything and have some fun? Thanks so much!!|||My son is 5 and has had the Leapster(not the LMax) since he was 3. He has 12 cartridges now(the older ones).

The ones he likes best (and plays with the most):

1. Kindergarten

2. First grade

3. Spiderman (he is a big Spidey fan)

4. Spongebob (ditto)

He also has the Batman cartridge but it is too advanced for him right now- he has not been able to %26quot;unlock%26quot; any games except for the first one.. Others : Nemo (played with that a lot when Nemo was his favorite movie but not anymore), The Incredibles (advanced for a 5 year old), Dora (duplicates most of the skills taught in the default cartridge that comes with the Leapster), Mr. Pencil (very unforgiving if small kids do not exactly trace on the lines), Math Baseball (not played it yet) and Letter Factory (good if you son does not know his letters and sounds yet).

BTW, I have heard %26quot;Letters on the loose%26quot; is good for Pre-K kids learning their sounds. My son does not have this but the reviews I have read say it is a great game. My printer isn't recognizing my ink cartridge?

I have an Epson C66 printer, and I went to buy a new cartridge at Staples. .22 LR rimfire , the only sensible rimfire cartridge the rest are either just too expensive or gimmicks ...?

.22lr is the most available, least expensive, most proven rimfire out there. I don%26#039;t think the others are gimmicks, just examples of companies making them %26quot;because%26quot;. That and the hopes of creating the next own %26quot;.22lr%26quot; or %26quot;.40%26quot; cartridge that will take the world by storm.|||As far as 22 rimfire ammo goes there are applications for the 22 CB, 22 short and 22 long.

Some guns were made to shoot only one type of 22 like the 22 short or 22 long rifle and they will only work with the right type.

The 22 CB is less powerful than the 22 short and is still used by some in 22 revolvers for plinking at close range.

The 22 short is used for guns that only digest that round and for plinking, pest control and dispatching small game caught in a trap like a rabbit.

The 22 long fills the gap between the short and long rifle in revolvers and some rifles and there were guns made just for it.

The 22 LR is the most common or the 22 rimfires and comes in many different bullet weights and velocities. The Israel military uses suppressed 22 LR to silence guard dogs and for taking out guards of the enemy in close combat situations.

The 22 LR bird shot is used by people to kill rodents inside their barn or gain storage areas at very close range as it wont damage the building like a solid 22 LR would.

All the gimmick rounds they have now are expencive, may not feed right in the gun, have questionable performance but are fun for some for varmints and plinking. Of all those the 22 tracer round seems to me good to teach bullet drop on the range as you can see the bullets arc. However that only shows you the bullet drop of that round and not of the sub-sonic or high velocity rounds.

And the sub-sonic rounds have their place. I use them for dispatching animals on my trap line and for quieter plinking. I also found some sub-sonic 22 ammo very accurate. They would be the preferred round when using a suppressor.

So in summery; yes many of the newer 22 ammo are just gimmicks but many are useful for a given task.

Hope this helps.|||.22 lr is a sensible cartridge. I shoot it a lot. It is cheaper. For late season squirrels, though, the .17hmr is hard to beat. No leaves on the trees, the little buggers are skittish to the slightest movement. With the .17 there is no figuring on whether to hold high or low, is that 75yds or 100 yds, etc. Just dead on and bam. Yeah, it costs more, but really now, $14.00 for a box of 50, that don%26#039;t really break the bank, and I have yet to kill 50 squirrels in a season so a box can last into the second season. . .|||22 RF and all the very simple rifles that have been produced for it are a testimony to the cartridge. Unless you have a very special niche --- varmint and predator shooting in mid sized feilds.. the 22 will cover all the bases for small game shooting.

In my area... 22 works for so much of the shooting we do... and 17 or 204 Ruger are great... but for the cost you really need to justify it. What is the effective range and knock down power of a 45-110 and 45-120 Sharps black powder cartridges?

I%26#039;m thinking about buying a Shiloh 1874 Creedmore target rifle or a 1874 Shiloh Quigley rifle and I%26#039;m not sure what caliber I want it in.|||Here%26#039;s one site to get you started...

the 45 in 45-110 or 45-120 is the caliber; the 110 or 120 is the powder load.

Have fun.|||Just how big a boy are ya?

In BP Silhouette 45-70s are shot at 500 Yd.s., and

after a 40 rd. match, you know they kick.

Can you hold tight enough to justify another 40 or 50 Gr.s of powder?|||The Sharps rifles in all of the .45 calibers are used to shoot silhouettes out to 500 yards. From an ethical standpoint, I never take shots at animals farther than about 200 yards. I want to to be sure that I kill the animal cleanly rather than wounding it. The trajectorys of the .45 110 and the .45 120 are not very flat at all. At those long ranges, you are lobbing the round in and it is striking the target at a high angle. The slightest misjudgement of the distance and your bullet either falls too far on the far side of the target or too far short of the target. The difference between the trajectorys of these old cartridges and modern cartridges is significant. That being said, they are a ball to shoot. I have a Quigley Sharps that is chambered for the .45-120 round and, when fully loaded with a black powder load and a 500 grain bullet, it kicks like an army mule, it can bruse your shoulder and it ain%26#039;t for the faint of heart. A while back, the Dr. put me on a blood thinner for a temporaty condition that I had. During this time, he wouldn%26#039;t let me shoot my Sharps because instead of a bruse, it would have made a deep hematoma (blood clot in the muscle tissue) that would have been a serious condition that would have required surgery to correct.

Aside from the recoil, the other problem is the cost for the ammo. Loaded .45-120 cartridges are availab le form only one source that I have found and at a cost of $7 per round. I am a reloader and so I load my own ammo for it. Even the empty brass is expensive. I pay $2 per shell for it when I buy 20 rounds at a time. If you can stand the cost, it is a bit cheaper if you buy 100 rounds of the empty brass at a time.

My rifle came with a less than acceptable sight for long range shooting and I had to buy a replacement sight made by Pedersoli to the tune of $400. The same sight can cost anywhere from $400 to $600 depending on where you buy it so shop around. I got mine from Cabela%26#039;s.

I really enjoy my .45-120 in spite of the recoil. If you reload, you can load your cartridges with a smokeless powder, such as Accurate Arms XMP 5744, and use lighter loads for less recoil. If you shoot black powder or a black powder substitute, the case MUST BE COMPLETELY FULL. If you leave any airspace in the cartridge, you can exceed the recommended maximum pressure for the rifle and damage your rifle and possibly injure yourself. I have a way of down loading with black powder for lighter loads and if you are interested, send me an email and I will tell you how to do it safely.

Would I buy another .45-120? No way, one is enough....... but I wouldn%26#039;t sell it either. If I were in the market for another Sharps .45 caliber rifle, I would buy a .45-70. Ammo is readily available and is WAY cheaper than any of the other .45 calibers. Plus, you don%26#039;t have to take the punishment from the recoil like you do with a .45-120 or even a .45-110 or .45-90. I%26#039;ll admit that those huge .45-120 rounds hanging on your cartridge belt to look impressive but looking cool comes at a price.

If you would like to calculate the recoil and the muzzle energy, you can use this program:

You can also buy ink refills from almost any supermarket store like Kmart.|||Just go to HP Solutions and it will tell what to do. it has a lot of options. you should have HP solutions if you download the cd that was with the printer.|||The HP C6350 takes a HP364 black cartridge. This cartridge only contains 6ml of ink which works out at 250 pages at 5% coverage. Five percent is pure text lines, usually if you are printing pictures or images on the page, then it equates to much more than 5%. If the cartridge has started to get low already, then the warning message will come on, IGNORE IT! I used to have a deskjet 6110 which did after about 6 weeks, I ignored the annoying message and got about another 6 weeks more ink!

I would also look at buying the high capacity remanufactured printer cartridges which can have double the ink of originals for a lot less money. Hope this helps.

Why did Hewlett Packard stop enclosing return envelopes for ink cartridges?

The past few ink refills I%26#039;ve opened for HP ink 74/75 have not had a return envelope for the empty cartridge as per usual. This hardly seems responsible to me. Anyone know what is going on?|||HP only encloses return envelopes on cartridges which have aftermarket value.

Currently the 74 and 75 have no aftermarket value and haven%26#039;t for a couple months.

Are the non nicotine cartridges safe for the electronic cigarette?

Everytime I read an article about the electronic cig its bad because of the nicotine. I was wondering about the flavored non nicotine cartridges, noone talks about them. Thanks!|||Nicotine isn%26#039;t necessarily bad for us if used responsibly. It is no worse than caffeine when used in moderation. Unfortunately, the delivery system (the tobacco cigarette) is what is bad for us.

There have been tests done on the eliquids and all testing thus far has shown that the liquid is safe. All of the ingredients found within are all deemed safe by the organizations world wide. If you are allergic to propylene glycol, the liquid might be a concern for you. The allergic reaction is hives. So if you get hives, stop esmoking!

Since this is obviously a new product and long term tests have not been done, there is still the question of what happens with long term use. However, these have been on the market for over two years and there is yet to be a death or major injury reported. People have reported allergic reactions to the PG, but they simply switch to the vegetable glycerin base and are fine.

There have also been studies done on PG, showing it has some healing qualities.

With everything we know to be true about tobacco cigarettes, many users of the electronic cigarette simply believe that since the e-cig is made of approximately 20 ingredients vs. 1000-4000 (we are still unsure about this since we cannot get an actual ingredient list from cigarette manufacturers), that the risk is worth it.|||Cigarettes are bad for us, we all know that. They have somewhere around 3000 toxins plus nicotine. The toxins are the part we are all scared of, and the tar....the things that cause the cancer. Nicotine itself is actually a very therapeutic chemical and it is being investigated for therapeutic uses or some psychiatric conditions. However, what most people dont%26#039; know is there is a bit of risk to the nicotine itself. It poses the risk of heart disease because it constricts your blood vessels. However, I see it like this...it can%26#039;t cause any more risk of heart disease than the burger I eat at McDonalds....so I opt for the nicotine. But yes of course, you can buy liquid and/or cartridges taht contain no nicotine, or even just low nicotine. The liquid and/or cartridges contain propylene glycol, water, flavor, and nicotine (optional). If you are considering buying an electronic cigarette, don%26#039;t get sucked in by the expensive cartridges, get some extra, then buy some liquid! Also, remember, the bigger the cigarette, the better the battery and the longer the cartridge will last. Vape on!

Is the tonner carridge which comes with HP laserjet 1000 a sample cartridge?

I bought a laserjet 1000 printer and got a C7115A black cartridge with it. it was written that the cartridge would print 2500 pages but the one which came with the printer is over by round about 500 pages. one of my friends told me that the tonner which comes with the printer is a sample it wont last long. So i just want to verify this is the tonner cartridge i got with the printer a sample???...|||Usually they last the same than the ones you can buy at the store. The C7115A has less capacity than C7115X.

Also remember that the 2500 page thing usually not accurate, they calculate that when the page is not full. If you printed out graphics or photos will decrease the # of pages.|||The toner cartridge isn%26#039;t a sample, but the ones packed in printers when they are shipped, are often not full.|||No, it%26#039;s not a sample. It IS the smallest cartridge produced by HP. They want you to BUY more and bigger cartridges when yours runs out.

That said, call HP tech support, you should get close to the number of pages promised on the cartridge. there may be other issues with your printer.|||Technically not a sample. They are considered %26quot;starter%26quot; cartridges. No you wont%26#039; get that many pages from them. All vendors do the same thing, even for ink jet printers.|||It isn%26#039;t a sample toner cartridge, but it is one that is not completely full. Just as new printers that use ink cartridges are only supplied with 1/2 full cartridges in the box. They makers know you are going to do a lot of printing when you first purchase a new printer, which are generally purchased at a good price. But where they get you is when you need to replace those cartridges or toners that came in the box. Hold onto you hats as you might pay more for the ink than you did for the printer itself.|||No, the 7115A is a trade cartridge and it is not a sample.

However, that 2500 pages is just a guide based on an average of 5% coverage. This is like a full page of text or email prints.

You will get more or less depending on what you print... so dont really expect to get 2500 pages exactly, esp if you are printing a lot of pictures or if you are printing just little things like letterheads, etc.|||Yes, it%26#039;s what many people consider to be a sample. It%26#039;s not filled up nearly as much as one you would buy.

How many postcard size photos I can print using a Canon Pixma CL-831 and a black cartridges?

I%26#039;m using PG-831 color and PG-40 black cartridges in my canon pixma printer. I wanna know, how many postcard size photos i can print by the use of those 2 cartridges.|||about 15

take the pics to a kodak print center you will save the cost of the ink and the were and tear on the printer. Photoes will kill a printer fast.|||Not many. Ink is measured in % of coverage. The industry standard is 5% which is a standard letter. Bunched up together that is about 1/3 of a full page and then you have all the white bits in between.

If you printing postcard size picture most of the surface will be covered. If you think that say a cartridge that says it will do 300 pages is referring to 5% coverage so full sheets of text it will be nearer to just 100 and still it will have loads of white in between the line and margins etc then full coverage of something even 1/3rd of an A4 sheet (your postcards) is not going to yield that many. As the first answerer said, it%26#039;s cheaper to get them done professionally.

Generally how much is an ink cartridge for a printer, black and white?

its an Hp|||Since you have an HP, the prices do have a range.

The cheapest from HP is the HP 21 Black, which is 14.99, the highest price you would pay for a black would be the 88XL black and that is around $35.

Now you can get replacements and refills for up to 70% off. One place I go to is O-ink, http://www.oinkinkstore.com is their website. I go to their stores in Michigan, but they can refill most cartridges from HP for around $9, and the replacements are from $12.99 to $24. Plus if I want they will pay cash for my empty.

How long do ink cartridges last when used daily?

I print newsletters that DON%26#039;T have plain white backgrounds, and have a lot of pictures, how long will this last for?|||It depends on what ink you are using. Tricolour will go quicker as once one colour is out the cartridge needs replacing, Single colours are more economical but still cost. I also print such items and I have a 5 ink system and I can change some colours twice a day when printing with picture backgrounds. Last week I went through 7 cartridges in one day - I swear. I have a chip re-setter and exact colour match ink for my printer so it cost me only about half the price of one cartridge to refill them all but if you have to buy new ones it will cost you hundreds to do hundreds.|||How much are you printing? 10%26#039;s, 100%26#039;s, 1000%26#039;s???

How much text/pictures/backgrounds are you using...?

It%26#039;s totally subjective and can even depend on the type of paper you%26#039;re using.

Is your background one colour? Ie: if you have a yellow background obviously you%26#039;re going to use much more yellow ink than anything else.

You really won%26#039;t know until you do a few test runs... If you find you%26#039;re running through ink at a rate of knots, invest in a more economical printer. Best one on the market at the moment for colour economy is the HP OfficeJet Pro L7590. It retails for approx $399-$399 AUD and offers the best economy of any printer on the market!

Good luck!|||The average ink cartridge will only yield 250-500 pages. If you are printing a lot of pictures, the yield could even be smaller than that. It really depends on the kind of printer you are using however.

How do I reset the chips on my Epson DX4400 cartridges?

I have bought non-Epson cartridges which contain much more ink than their Epson equivalents, but they are still half-full when the computer decides they are empty. How can I prolong their use?

My printer is an Epson DX4400 and I use Windows Vista Basic.|||You can buy a chip re setter (they cost about $30), however as a default Epsom will leave about 30% ink in the cartridge in order for them for function and distribute ink correctly.

Resetting the chip may result in poor quaility prints and irrepairable damage to your printer.

The cartridges your printer takes are tiny. Even with much more ink they do not print many pages. From epson they are only 7ml, with only about 4-5 ml being usable ink. This is only about 100 pages if you are not printing photos.

How can you see how many ink there is left in the cartridge?

Why on earth would anyone mess with a refill kit when they can by new replacement cartridges for a few dollars each?|||buy re fill kit.|||Some Canon printers won%26#039;t accept refilled cartridges. I don%26#039;t know abot the IP2000, but my former Canon printer simply wouldn%26#039;t run if I put a refilled cartridge in it. As to how to refill, that%26#039;s much too complicated to describe here. You can buy refill kits at Staples, Office Depot, Walgreens and WalMart. If so, where in the UK?|||not sure|||It doesn%26#039;t dry fast enough, so no. Not to say that someone won%26#039;t come up with a formula that works, but not now.

Soy ink is mostly used in newsprint which is not that high quality of ink to start with. The big presses have dryers and a bit of time on the rollers before it is subjected to things that might smear it. Newsprint will also come off on your hands a little as I am sure you noticed.

The same is not true on a little ink jet printer. You have to get ink that will spray very fine particals and then dry very quickly. This is not going to be done by anything that isn%26#039;t very volitile.|||Most ink jet inks are vegetable colour based already. I know the HP uses this types of inks. How long after the expiration date are HP ink cartridges usable for?

I have a few HP ink cartridges that have expired in December 2005, August 2007, and October 2007. Are these still usuable? Please let me know! Thank you!|||That depends upon the style of ink cartridge.

For older HP%26#039;s like a 26, 33, 29, or 20 (6614) the will actually %26quot;explode%26quot; not long after their expiration date (by explode i mean the bags over inflate forcing a large quantity of ink out) this destroys the electronic strip and makes a terrible mess.

For block style HP cartridges (anything small and square) it won%26#039;t make a difference, the expiration date is just a gauge of when HP guarantees the cartridge for resale.

As for the the large ink tank style HP, #10, #11, #14 and #88%26#039;s the expiration date is a stop date. They will not work beyond this date.|||If they are still taped, they shouldnt have dried out. I tend to use compatibles on my Epson printer so not sure if you want the %26quot;real%26quot; thing on yours.|||Funny thing, you can only get them from Dell!|||No, I have the same printer and there is now where else but dell to get a replacement from. It sucks.|||I think Staples now sells Dell cartridges because my husband was on the site the other day and saw them because we need some for our printer, but they say you are only supposed to be able to buy them from Dell. I doubt that now.

Just confirmed with my husband...he saw them on staples.com|||Possibly here:

http://printer-ink-cartridge.clickthesite.com|||maybe you could refill it. I have heard that you can buy refill kits or there may be a place that you can take it to and they can refill it.

Im out of black ink, but have a brand new colour cartridge..it's still all fuzzy as if its nearly empty help!?

will colour cartridges not print black? i was sure they did and iv an essay to hand in 2mro so i need it to print! what should i do? its a HP printer|||Your HP printer was designed to use the black in cartridge to improve black and white text but also to improve the black colour in pictures/images. If you want the best performance you will have to put a new black cartridge in. In theory colour cartridges can produce black but the result is never as good as a dedicated black cartridge

If you are stuck your local tesco stocks a selection of HP cartridges - either tesco own brand or HP|||Clean the nozzles, go into your printer control and choose the clean nozzle and follow the instructions, hope this helps

What is a good way to store tape backup cartridges?

We use Quantum DLTtape backups at work, and we%26#039;re trying to find some time of shelf or rack to store them on--preferrably something that is wall mounted. I%26#039;ve been searching to try and find something, but it doesn%26#039;t seem to exist. Any suggestions?|||Whatever you do think about why you are doing the backup in the first place.

Is it to have a second copy of the data as you already have another disaster recovery plan in place?

or is it as I suspect, your only backup solution?

a fireproof safe is the only place in your establishment you should keep tapes, and ensure the door is closed and locked each night.

If you want to take them offsite don%26#039;t leave them in the glove box of your car (if it gets stolen so does your whole companies data)

I know they are big for storage but unfortunately if you have a fire onsite they are the first things to melt.

Can two game cartridges share the same Action Replay?

Hi, I have this DS Action Replay and I have Pokemon Platinum and Pearl. I just wanted to know if both can share the same AR.

Another little question. After I select the codes that I want for the game, what butons do I have to press to have the max TMs in Platinum?|||yeah, i think they can

and sorry i don%26#039;t know the answer to the second question

I would like an ink cartridge with gold ink for either a HP photosmart C3180 or Epson stylus color 600?

Ink of the color Gold and Silver is never available.

The reason in theoretically GOLD and SILVER are not colors. They are colors with dye additives. Even in PC monitor and TV screen you can not see Gold and Silver that good.

Both laser printer and ink jet printers can never print Gold and Silver, as they can handle the color but not the dye additives.|||Swapan - (Dream) is completely correct!!Can not print those colors

Why doesn't my printer work after changing ink cartridges?

I know i put the right size in, i tried connecting/disconnecting it, and installing/uninstalling it. No matter what i try, it won%26#039;t work. Any more suggestions what I can try?|||In order to see what the problem we would need your printer model.

I know these guys know everything if it helps!

You can post there or repost here with your model

Also mention if your cartridges are original or remanufactured or refilled if you know.|||To prevent the printer showing %26quot;no inks%26quot; or “not recognize” when installing these compatible cartridges, please try to follow these instructions below:

1) Turn on the printer; take out the cartridges and shake them.

2) Turn off the printer for a few minutes

3) Turn on the printer, when it says %26quot;insert inks%26quot;, and then insert the compatible cartridges one by one, making sure the cartridges are sitting completely in the slots.|||It appears that there%26#039;s an incompatibility issue between your in cartridge and printer. Make sure that the ink cartridge is the same with the one you%26#039;d change from.|||Well the same thing happened to me once and it turns out there is this thin plastic thing that covers up where the ink comes out, so look at the cartridge and see if you took that off. . .|||Hmm, for my printer it takes a while for the computer to recognize that it%26#039;s new...did you shake them before putting them in? If so, just wait a while.

How many times can you NORMALLY refill Dell ink cartridges before they start failing?

Dell does not make printers. What you are looking at is the same factory type of Lexmark or HP printer carts, with the gold foil on the bottom, which is the actual print head. I like these the best, as, if you are careful ( CAREFUL ) not to press, deform, or mechanically abrade the gold or chrome print hole surface itself, you can use for YEARS, -- I have one that is 10 years old. There are a few situations though, that might give you problems such as a few types of BLACK ink that are incompatible with many standard refills, and if you put in black ink, the cart immediately quits. If you soak the cart in water about 3/4 the height of the cart overnight, you can print a page or 2, and then it quits again. I have not heard any explanation for this behaviour, but a typical cart is the dark green capped black cart in a LEXMARK printer 5XX or 6XX printer with the 16/17 26/27 carts. The color, on the other hand, can be refilled for years. The best carts just have various compositions of ordinary FOAM in them, sometimes with a layer of fiber on the top or bottom, but the foam is the holding mechanism. NEVER drill an existing vent hole on a cart if it contains micro-baffles that allow a tiny amount of air in, without allowing dry air outside to dry out the foam. HP uses a dual bladder air charged black, on a few models, and a few other ones do as well. These require more time and care in loading and taping.

If you purchase an ink refill kit, there is usually online instructions

and/or a manual that explains where to drill holes and tape etc.

They may even explain about the bladders or foam, although they usually do not. I have learned where to drill holes %26quot; my %26quot; way, which does not always agree with the typical instructions, and even different ink refill instructions have different methods.

If you are serious about refilling, COSCO has an awesome refill kit with 3 huge bottles of black, 3 huge bottles of the 3 colors, and 2 bottles of the photo ink, the drills, beads, tape, manual etc. for $20. I would go to many kitchen stores or such in the malls and look for digital scales - they are everywhere, about $25 and will tell you how much the full or empty carts weigh, and you can tell EXACTLY how much ink is in all the carts, regardless of the estimators.

Try not to push in or abrade the actual print surface, although it can be wiped gently with a damp soft cloth in the direction of the print movement. I put old carts that are sitting too long unused and drying out , in a glass of water 3/4 the way to the top overnight.

In filling, each cart for each type is slightly different, but for foam

carts, I drill a hole for each color about 3/4 the way up the side in an area that I put a piece of black electrical tape over when I am done. I try to avoid altering the micro-air ducting that is used by the manufacturer. After soaking, and filling to the 3/4 mark, I sit the cart on 2 or 3 folded kleenex gently in a glass for a few minutes and then check to see if the print surface is still dripping - if it wipes clean, then you are ready to do a couple of test prints.

When refilling, it is probably best to fill ALL the colors, and keep them this way.

Letting the print head go to completely empty IS REALLY BAD - because the print head is 1/2 to 3/4 away from the foam, separated by a microfilter and a long tube. If this tube EVER gets empty, the fast drying ink dries inside the tube, and on TOP of the print holes, and you will never fully regain the use of the cart after that. (( I do, by tying a string to a filled cart and spinning it at about 10 G to force air bubbles out of the tube, and by melting holes into the tube and using hypodermic needles to rinse with water, and them fill with new ink, and then epoxy the holes shut - most people would be unable to do these proceedures, and as far as I know, I am the only one who has done so. But then, I have over 200 printers, so that I have to be creative... ))

Keeping the print heads used on a daily basis ( I recommend a print of all 4 colors at least every three days ) and NEVER letting the heads dry out, would enable you to use the carts for years...

Lets face it, you can buy a brand new printer WITH carts for less than the carts, do that if try to use the old ones, you have nothing to lose,- if you screw up, well, you buy a new one - if you drill it properly, then you just saved the price of either a cart , or a new printer. I have seen, in an industrial park, a pile of brand new identical printers, in the boxes, with all the software disks and packaging, untouched, except for the box top opened and the

ink carts removed ie, the entire box, software, printer, packaging, and even free bonus CD%26#039;s and sample paper, was less than the ink carts, so they just bough a pile of new printers, and threw them all out-- for the ink. Go figure.

Hope this helps.

Dell changes options and marketing constantly, so I am GUESSING what printer you probably have. If you post the exact carts and description of them and the printer, I could help better.

Also, I note from two of the other answers provided since I posted this, that people are stating that you can ruin your printer and void your warranty and damage things by using %26quot; NON DELL %26quot; ink..

Please.... give it a break. I have never, in a quarter of a century heard of an ink refill damaging a foam cartridge type of printer - people can damage a printer and do really strange things, but if the ink, which everyone states is poorer quality, is not giving you the TRUE, DELL, look,

then just get another DELL cartridge. Your printer has no idea what ink is hitting the paper that you are printing on!

Someone mentioned that LEXMARK has a bad reputation of poor ink cartridges, which is debateable - which make model and year and refill cart is the person talking about? Where are the statistics? Out of the hundreds of printers I work with, I can list the models from HP, Canon, Epson, etc. that had horrible problems, and for that matter, I can list horrible problems with almost any %26quot; Brand name%26quot; computer component over the years. With new techniques and products and modifications being sold daily, it would be difficult to imagine that every single thing sold by one specific company was perfect, all the time - they arent, and people do get stuck with lemons occasionally - from ALL manufacturers.. All you can do is hope for the best. But the SALES and MARKETING and LEGAL bs of doom and gloom in using a NON DELL ink, is actually funny! I cant help but wonder how many HUNDREDS of printers these people have actually used in their lifetime....

Another addendum, as people provide other answers.... Reading over the answers is quite funny since the logic they present is %26quot; DONT use refills, since it will destroy the machine and warranty , AND, throw out the printer anyway, since it not a good one in the first place ! %26quot; So ... I ask, why worry about a warranty if you are going to throw out the printer and buy a %26quot; good%26quot; one ? Also, below an ANSWER states that you CAN refill, but never use a generic kit... but they don%26#039;t state what you CAN use if you arent using a generic kit? And they highlight the word %26quot; NEVER %26quot;. As though HP or DELL put out name-brand specific refill kits !!! Unheard of -- they give away printers at cost just to make money on the carts, so providing %26quot; NAME BRAND %26quot; refills would destroy their greedy marketing plans...

You can check my ANSWERS for information on other printers, ink and refills as well.

good luck

robin|||When it fails you will know it!|||id say 2-3 times refilling it then you need to buy a new cartridge|||IN order to get one refill the cartridge has to be printing well in the first place.

How many refills you will actually get out of a cartridge depends highly upon usage, maintenance and of course just dumb luck.

To get the most out of the cartridge run regular print head cleanings and refill only when the cartridge is low and still printing well. If you keep going that way you may get many refills out of it before the electronic go or the print head begins to fail.

The most important thing to maintenance. Keep up with print head cleaning. One every two-three weeks and watch your print quality. Never use a universal kit. NEVER. and you should have reasonably good luck|||Really, it%26#039;s not advisable to refill ink cartridges at all. The ink is always a poorer quality, it%26#039;s 33 times more likely to fail, and may even mess up your printer. Since you have a Dell printer (made by Lexmark who are known for poor cartridge/ink reliabilty) your chances of actually losing money through ruined cartridges/ink and maybe even the printer, you may want to reconsider ink refills. However, if you must, generally the limit is three refills before you need to purchase new cartridges.

Dell printers are really inconvenient. People generally toss theirs in the trash, and buy a printer whose ink can be found in retail stores. I prefer HP myself.|||It%26#039;s really not worth your while to refill Dell cartridges. Using a refilled cartridge in your Dell printer means the warranty on your printer isn%26#039;t valid anymore. (Although if your warranty%26#039;s up, it really doesn%26#039;t matter.)

Yes, you can only get Dell cartridges direct from them, but that also means you don%26#039;t pay a %26#039;markup%26#039; because you%26#039;re buying them from a store - and the cartridge has a warranty too. If it fails for some reason other than your running out of ink, they%26#039;ll replace it (within reason).|||about five times, but it also depend on the way you refill it and the type of ink.
